So I live in a haunted tower when I go on vacation - where I was up until today. A few nights ago my friends and I did a seance. Since I was the only one who is acquainted with the ghost out of that group and I had the added advantage of occult knowledge, empathy and some spiritual sensitivity, I volunteered to be the medium. So we did the seance, lit the candle, etc, and I started to get possessed - then my friend chickened out and broke the circle.. It was extremely cool. I would definitely do it again. Anyone else ever tried it? Had any success? What did you think of the experience?

Yes, though, it was awkward to have another individual in one's body. Especially when they're from a 3 generations ago and committed suicide for political reasons.

See, mine was a crazy lady who got locked in the tower where I sleep for the rest of her life after burning down a few houses in her madness (she had a brain impairment from Congenital Hypothyroidism and choked on her tongue due to the macroglossia that the CHT caused). It wasn't awkward and my friends broke the circle before the possession was complete.

Complete psychosis isn't fun to experience when you're sane. Frankly, being overrided by the individual's sheer anxiety, anger and raw shock wasn't fun.

Does anybody have any actual literature on the matter of working with imprints and the necessity for others to be around

Sounds like some of the literature produced by Spiritist movement might be interesting to you...

For instance, "The Book on Mediums: Guide for Mediums and Invocators" by Allan Kardec looks good, though I don't know that for a fact.

I haven't played with much of this necrophilia stuff personally. But yeah...

I have the distinct impression you've got necrophilia and necromancy confused... an occult gaffe or horrendous Freudian slip, I'm not sure which.

Or it was intended as a jestful reference to Crowley's typical derogatory dismissal of spiritism and summoning the dead; I could have made that more clear. Still, seems pretty funny to me to call necromancy necrophilia, regardless of whether it references anything else. Why so serious?

I was actually laughing as I wrote that response - tone doesn't come across over the internet! Sorry!!!

And I don't read Crowley so pardon my lack of sophistication in terms of the reference.
