Ok so i was going to try and summon a spirit into my scrying mirror by asking if they would show themselves. But before i do i want to have something for protection just incase its a bad spirit. I already know of the LBRP and MPR. But doesnt help to be extra safe! biggrin.gif Any help wold be appreciated.

Thanks.

Protection is never a bad idea, but if you're easily spooked I'd say stay away from the occult altogether. :/

You probably would be interested in the Watchtower ritual, esp. with the LRBP and BRH. The Opening by Watchtower calls the four quarters to come protect you from the Outside.

So...You've decided to go fishing. But...you've never been fishing before...Are you familiar with a rod and reel? Do you know about bait...or lures?
If you do happen to land a fish, just how are you planning on doing that? ...with a net or with the direct hands-on approach? Oooh, are you fishing from dry land or are you using a boat?
And we haven't even looked to see what the weather is doing...
Look, I'm actually in your camp on this! I didn't have a computer or a neat Forum to ask questions of and yet I plunged straight in! (Guess I was going to be a fisherman or drown trying! *grin*) Please keep these questions in mind whilst you set about your project. And remember, you are not guaranteed a fish the first time out! For me it helped that I was into ESP/etc. and I had a natural gift for certain forms of spiritism. Build your foundations. Try to get a good understanding about your own energy body and how it works. You can dig up any amount of protection ritual/mechanisms via your media access. I'd recommend Dion Fortunes "Psychic Self-Defense" or Melita Dennings of similar name (she is also contemporary). "Astral Dynamics" by Robert Bruce (?) is also a good read. If you've finished your first go at this...eat something! Listen to some distracting music or go off and do what comes naturally for younger people! Basically, you want to shut down the solar plexus chakra from being sensitive and by eating etc. you are 'grounding' yourself and, importantly, replenishing your bloodsugar levels! (Psychic work can really take their toll!) If you find that things are still 'noisy' afterwards banish the room with salt water and/or leave a saucerful of salted vinegar out in the room. Do not consume this...even tho' your room may smell like a deli! *grin* You want to shift your focus after a session. Laugh alot if you can. (no...not spontaneously....do it to a funny movie or a story...) Important note...Televiewing is related to the element of fire. If your spirit work involves denizens from that elemental plane, Do Not Watch TV afterwards! Just saying. Drawing an astral circle around you in the astral light gives you a small modicum of protection for awhile. I have always had good results if I bathed thoroughly before a summoning (and afterwards as well)...but this is more subjective. Good Luck! (Listen to Darkmage...its more of a Wiccan thing but is highly effective!) egypt1.gif

I'm going to break with tradition, ignore circles, holy names, etc. and say that the best things you can have going into evocation work are :

- a strong sense of self, very centered in self knowledge, able to discern your inner voice from anything 'external' to you.

- a basic understand & experience with the principals of hypnosis (biggest single danger right here, your mind is your weakest point)

- some basic capability with shielding & working with energy, or at least the capability of controlling your own empathy if necessary.

- the capacity to banish fear (its like blood in the water really). be aware that your mental state going into this will affect the results you get. Don't enter into summoning from a resonance of fearfulness. your expectations will greatly color your experiences.

- the ability to work diplomatically with entities, without ingenuineness, and without being reactionary. be able to take control of an exchange rather than just reacting to stimuli.

but really, I didn't have all these things ironed out when I started. So go break some eggs and make omelets smile.gif

For a beginner I always advise an actual physical circle. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a plain circle, add a few divine names if you wish. Then over lay this with prayers and invocations. General exorcism of the area, blessing and consecrations of the circle, and indwelling of the divine. Calling of guardians. Check the Greater Key of Solomon as a general guide and how to.
